Perched above Ram Head with commanding views of the Celtic Sea, this compact single-storey lookout was swiftly erected by the Irish Government in 1940. Throughout World War II, it served as a vital station for coast watch personnel, who diligently recorded all passing ships and aircraft around Ardmore. Equipped with a telephone line to the Ardmore post office, it stood ready to alert of any potential hazards.

Location: Ardmore, Waterford.

These prints are from a collection of landscape photography from Ireland, including images from the Wild Atlantic Way including Kerry and Cork.
